We continue working towards making mind body and spirit right with Colin Sexton
The alarm goes off! We’re awake! As much as we might not like the alarm, we like the fact we’re alive (Hopefully, stay tuned if not. The first second of the day is GREAT but then the second hits. Now what?
We start thinking about our mortgage payment, car payment, credit card payment, back pain, job we don’t like, people we don’t like, hair we don’t like and having to feed the dog, then the THIRD second hits….
I challenge all who think and say they are “positive” test themselves in the next week. If you pass the test by the third second that’s GREAT! If not, there’s room for improvement which is also GREAT!
Every day we have a NEW gift of life. God’s mercies are NEW EVERY DAY! Remember when we were kids and we saw those Birthday or Christmas gifts? We had no idea what that “gift” had in store but we were excited to see what we unwrapped. We should have that same excitement every morning we start to unwrap our gift of life!
Having a positive attitude is sometimes “work” for many of us but it IS possible. We are able to wake up with a positive attitude, on purpose! When we are able to NOT focus on the “stresses” of life and focus on what we are thankful for instead, that sets the mind set for the rest of the day which then affects everyone around us.
We can either be the dark cloud of a negative attitude that people can see and feel or we can be a ray of Son shine on a cloudy day. When we combine waking up with a positive attitude with eating a good, even if small, breakfast consisting of a good blend of protein, fruit, good carbs, good fats, some quick and simple exercise, even walking around the block before jumping in the car, the difference can literally be life changing.
How important is a positive attitude? How many times can we think of decisions we
made when we were in a negative mindset? Even words spoken? What was the outcome? How long did the effects of that decision last? How much longer is it going to last?
Like bad decisions made in a negative mindset, so too can positive decisions made in a positive mindset have a rippling effect across the lake of life. We must realize many of our words, scions and reactions cannot be taken back and that our attitude affects all of the above. We must look forward to see what kind of ripples to we want to leave? What do we want our legacy to be?
To sum it up, let’s start living INTENTIONALLY for excellence. Taking steps on purpose to make sure we:
1. Have a positive attitude before we even get into bed. Be THANKFUL.
2. Take care of temple of our body (and mind). Start and stick to a diet of nutritious foods. Eating smaller amounts more frequently (Not “three meals a day”) When we get our body the right nutrients, we also get our MIND the right nutrients which affects EVERYTHING.
3. Exercise. Exercise is not only good for us anyway but is releases endorphins which help us deal with stress, depression and anxiety. There is also an underlying to very clear sense of accomplishment after we exercise which can be the difference maker!
I challenge ALL of you, if not already part of your daily routine, to implement these steps right away. Whether you decide to, or NOT to, that decision will affect the rest of your LIFE and potentially others around you.
Thank you and God Bless!
Phillipians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
