Blood Sugar Stabilization and Nutrition for Balance and Wellness, by Colin Sexton


In the book of John chapter 14, verse 27, Jesus told the disciples, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Based on that scripture, so many people perceive the definition of the word peace to mean a lack of trouble or fear. The true definition is more appropriately summed up in the word WHOLE; to have nothing missing, nothing broken, nothing diminished.  That is what the Kaleidoscope Kingdom is hoping to help bring about: WHOLENESS in the body of Christ.

It is not a “one thing” secret.   No “pill” can fix it.  There is no “quick fix”.  There is, however, a formula of sleep, nutrition, nutrition, water, and supplements if necessary.

“Dieting” or “pills” are NOT the answer.  How many of you who have “diet” books have more than one?  The secret isn’t in “a new diet” or a “new exercise fad” as the principle has been around a long as we have: Eat less, move more.  Unfortunately, because of the evolution of “food” or “substance labeled as food but not really food” it is now a matter of eating RIGHT!

The reason “dieting” can be so dangerous is dieting actually causes caloric and carbohydrate deficits with then crate an imbalance of your blood sugar hormones and in turn your entire endocrine system.  You system will over compensate by releasing more hormones than needed causing you to loose lean muscle mass, lowering your metabolism and because of that an eventual increase of body fat.

The way our bodies work is a science, a miraculous one but a science none the less.  We are all spending money on food but what are we getting in that food?  We all need food to survive, but what is it IN food that actually makes food essential?  The answer is nutrition; vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates etc.  The way these nutrients work together within our bodies is also a science.  To truly understand how certain foods work within our body, we have to get the proper information.  The refusal to do just that can literally be the difference between life and death.

Let’s start out with sleep.  Sleep is probably the most important thing to start with because proper rest will regulate your hormones, metabolism, release stored body fat and lessen cravings of non-beneficial “food”.

The next thing is nutrition. Not just “food” but actual nutrition.  We have all been taught to eat a “balanced meal” and with good reason.  We must eat properly balanced meals (proteins, carbohydrates and fats) every 3-4 hours until the time we go to bed to properly stabilize our blood sugar levels.  This pattern of frequent balanced meals, combined with the proper amount of calories per meal, will boost your metabolism, lessen cravings, give you more energy and release stored body fat.

Many people who do eat the right foods constantly snack on fruit thinking it is great for them.  Now don’t get me wrong, fruit is great, but a snack of ONLY fruit is not good.  Without a proper blend of protein, the fruit in itself will actually spike your blood sugar.  It is always good to eat some kind of protein with fruit (Nuts, Peanut butter, yogurt etc.)

Just as in the work world, success isn’t always about working harder but rather working smarter.  Proper health maintenance is exactly the same.  I know so many who work out in the gym for hours, eating three HUGE meals and spending tons of money on “supplements” without getting the proper core nutrition they’re bodies need to even properly breakdown and utilize any supplement.  This lack of understanding is actually in many cases causing them to burn muscle instead of fat and because they’re bodies are not functioning correctly, all that money they spend on supplements is going right down the toilet…..literally.
