BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING (WHO AM I?), Part 2-final, By Juanita Lockett

And now, the conclusion of our guest blog from Juanita Lockett

  • Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

So, after we realize that we are lost without Him, we recognize that we are sinners before God and begin to mourn, which means to repent, and ask for forgiveness. A true believer understands that when they sin, they have brought great pain and sorrow to God and is truly sorrow for their transgressions. 2 Corinthians 7:10 says “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation.” Only those who grieve over their sins under the conviction of the Holy Ghost and cry out to God saying, “Woe is me! I am a sinner. I am unclean. I have singed against you, God” are the ones who will be comforted. And WHO IS THE COMFORTER??? John 14:26, Jesus said “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” This is what it means to be “Blessed!” To be filled with the Holy Ghost…the Comforter living in me…guiding me, direction me, leading down paths of righteousness, and giving me the strength I need to overcome sin in this sinful world! If you do not have the Comforter within your heart today, now is the day of salvation! God is here, willing, and ready to give you the promise of His Holy Spirit!!!!

  • Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth

The word “Meek” used in Matthew 5:5 refers to a strong person who is under control—An humble and  God controlled person. One who is controlled by God in thought, word, will, emotion, and action. One who submits not their own will, but the Will of God! One who exemplifies true humility. A meek person is not a weak person. For example, my husband tells his students all the time “Don’t take my meakness for weakness!” The meek individual is one who has placed all of faith and trust in Jesus Christ will be unassuming before God, but mighty through God and bold before the world and before satan saying “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me…I have confidence in myself…I am strong and able. I AM Blessed!!!!

  • Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Hunger means to have an appetite for the things of God. Thirst means to realize that without God I will become dehydrated and die. Hunger and thirsting after righteousness is a lifestyle: a lifestyle that is virtuous, noble, moral, right and ethical. A life that reaps the benefits or is filled with peace and joy! We Are Blessed!!!

  • Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Mercy is love towards those that are miserable, those that are in need of help. The merciful are those that are full of forgiveness; tender hearted and who truly feel in the deepest parts of their being the pain and suffering of the one who is needing mercy. Blessed are the merciful…the one who goes out of their way to help others. We have been blessed with mercy…now we, too, are blessed to be a blessing and show mercy to others. We should never forget the pit from whence we were digged! CONTINOUS MERCY…WE ARE SALT AND LIGHT!

  • Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Jeremiah said “the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. However, in Psalm 51:10, David cried “Create within me a clean heart, Oh God, and renew within me a right spirit.” God, I want to know you…I want to see your Glory…I want to see you! I want to be blessed to be a blessing!!!

  • Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called to the children of God.

Romans 14:19 “So then let us pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another.” There is too much pain in the world…We, the salt and light, need to bring peace to the situation, and we need to build up each other…REMEMBER..Affirmation + Validation lived out in ethics = Kingdom Living. When we walk into the room, hate has to leave…bitterness has to go…discord is not welcomed…We are tearing down walls and barriers…speaking peace to a troubled world…we are blessed to be peacemakers!!!!!

  • Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.

Ok…this is one beatitude I wasn’t too thrilled about. Who wants to be persecuted??? The reason is when you are light…you stand out…you are different. There will be times when we will suffer for doing the right thing. Persecution may come…but, don’t be discouraged….this is a sign that you are blessed! John 3:20, Jesus said that, “Everyone who does evil hates the light,” and He also said in John 15:20, “If they persecute Me, they will also persecute you.” Therefore, what may look like a horrible situation, is really a blessing…First, Hebrews 8:9 tells us that Jesus learned obedience through suffering. It was through this process of that He learned who he was! Also, Persecution takes our eyes off of earthly rewards, strips away superficial beliefs, strengthens our faith, and serves as an example to others…and brings us to Who We Are!!!! Blessed to Be A Blessing…Salt and Light!!!!

So stand strong, hold on, and know that the Kingdom of Heaven is yours and Great is your reward in Heaven!!!!!

We are Salt and Light…We blessed to Be a Blessing!
